Family Law Presentation to Trial Lawyers’ Section of the Collier County Bar Association

Nicole L. Goetz, with the assistance of associate attorney Holly A. Rice, presented an update on and general discussion of family law to the Trial Lawyer’s Section of the Collier County Bar Association on June 2, 2015.

The presentation included a discussion of basic family law as well as certain key bills introduced during the 2015 legislative session.  The legislation discussion included bills relating to alimony reform, to parental timesharing with children, to collaborative law, and the legislative portion of the presentation concluded with a discussion of the newly passed law concerning grandparent rights.  Ms. Goetz also summarized the status of Same Sex Marriage in Florida and nationally, along with both a historical and current view of the 50 states’ positions on the issue.  She concluded the presentation with a brief discussion of key cases and concepts highlighting the intersection of family law with various practice areas to help non-family law lawyers better understand common family law issues that can arise in their practice.

Nicole L. Goetz completes Collaborative Law Training

Nicole L. Goetz completed the Collaborative Family Law Institute’s training titled, “COLLABORATIVE DIVORCE Fitting the Pieces Together: A Basic Interdisciplinary Training.” Collaborative divorce or collaborative family law offers parties an alternative method for resolving issues by placing the parties and their chosen counsel, and in certain circumstances other family professionals, in a setting that focuses the participants on settlement by removing the threat of litigation. Nicole L. Goetz, P.L. offers collaborative law resolution options in addition to traditional client representation in family law matters.
